History - PepsiCo-IVI

Pepsico-Ivi is a subsidiary of PepsiCo. PepsiCo-Ivi’s origins run back to a Greek company called Ivi Panagopoulos.

Founded in 1926 by Nick Panagopoulos, Ivi Panagopoulos was a small beverages company in Maroussi, Athens, named after the ancient Greek goddess Ivi whose duty was to refresh the Gods in Olympus by offering the famous nectar.

During the ’60s and the ’70s, Ivi became a large enterprise with facilities both in Athens and Thessaloniki. The owners at the time also bought out the bottling facilities of the famous “Karandani” water fountains in Loutraki.

History - PepsiCo

Pepsico's history dates back more than 110 years. In 1898, North Carolina pharmacist Caleb Bradham invented our flagship brand. Bradham registered it in 1903 and established a network of franchised bottlers to mix and sell his beverage.

As the Pepsi-Cola enterprise changed hands through the decades, the brand gained recognition and equity through greater distribution, clever price positioning, and creative national advertising – including some of the world’s most-recognized campaigns and jingles. The company also began expanding its product lineup, adding low-calorie and flavored soft drinks.

In March 2010, PepsiCo has completed a strategic acquisition of its two largest bottlers worldwide, The Pepsi Bottling Group and PepsiAmericas.  After the acquisition, PepsiCo is the largest company in the food and beverage industry of North America and the second largest worldwide.
